Chinese import site Aliexpress has listed the Xiaomi Mi Box for sale for $90 today. This recently announced Android TV Box helped folks keep the hope when Google pulled the Nexus Player from the Play Store and speculation began that Android TV was dieing. Xiaomi’s interpretation met with little criticism as the manufacturer was know for highly competitive prices combined with a better build quality.
The Xiaomi Mi Box is reported to play 4K at 60fps, feature an Amlogic S905X Cortex-A53 Quad core supported by a Mali-450 GPU, 2GB RAM and 8GB ROM. Much like the Nexus Player before it there was no Ethernet and the device would rely on WiFi, this listing does not mention an Ethernet. Another slight bone of contention was the lack of a MicroSD card slot, instead the Mi Box would use a USB port for the expandable storage.
Aliexpress might be simply listing the specifications from the original announcement as there is an entry stating “Potential HDR feature”. There is an issue with some differing images of the unit itself:
It’s difficult to say if this device is going to be the Android TV we are waiting for however the price sits at $90 from Aliexpress and you can judge for yourself.
